Riding the Wave to the Top of the World

Wouldn’t you know there’d be a connection between the dudes at EPIC Skatepark and 14 year old Austin Polterock. “Best case scenario is that we get a professional picture from the podium today…because he is with the big guns. That is, this is the first time he has ever competed pro!”, BoardWarrior.com’s Drew Glickman told SportStars. Polterock says, “I feel more free on the water than being binding in to like a wakeboard you know”. Ya, wakeskate is no bindings.

The biggest event happened August 16th – the Worlds. Polterock needed to win to technically be the Amateur World Champion. And that’s exactly what he did. Now he’ll compete pro in WWA events from here on! To his credentials so far (or already), Austin has served up some delicious wins:

Won Amateur Wakeskate 2012 WWA Natique Wakegames in Orlando in April

Won Amateur Wakeskate 2012 WWA Natique Championships August 3rd

Took 3rd place in Pro Wakeskate 2012 Wakestock Canada

He’s also the Southern California INT Champion in Wakeskate Open. Next up, he’ll be competing at the 2012 WWA World Championships in Amateur Wakeskate in Milwaukee.

Riding the wave to success. Austin Polterock is 14 years old – but his talent puts him way ahead than his years give away. He’s been wakeskating for 5 years on a private Sanger, CA lake. His father fully supports his son, driving him at least twice a day for workouts. He has trained with top pro rider Grant Roberts and just four years ago started competing. It’s all adding up to riding to the top.
