Walnut Creek Aquanuts Win Big at Age Group National!

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ““ 7/11/2014-

   The Walnut Creek Aquanuts had a very productive June, bringing home several Silver and Bronze medals and top 10 placements from the eSynchro Age Group National competition in Federal Way Washington held June 26, July 5th. The meet was the finale of over 10 months of training and competition, with WCA athletes up against the best athletes and teams in the nation.

   The 11/12 A team earned a silver medal, placing second overall out of a field of 32 teams. The 11/12 B team placed 6th overall which was significant given they were competing with mostly A teams and they were the first WCA B team in their age group to make it to AGN in over 5 years.  Highlights in the 12 and under division  included Yara Elian’s Solo performance which earned her 4th place, a Duet with Elian and team mate Sophia Kong earning second, and a  3rd place finish for the Trio which included Hailey Kearsley, Ryan Taite Lewis, and Lucia Pirone.

   The 13/15 Team earned a Silver Medal and kept their feet firmly on the podium with an additional 3rd place (Bronze) finish for Soloist Daria Torba, a 3rd place finish for the duet of Torba and team mate Lauren Simonelli, and a second place finish for the Trio which included Taylor Fair, Katya Mizin, Lauren Simonelli and Caoimhe Gallehue as alternate.

   Sophia Kong, also placed 5th overall in Figures, a placement that earned her a spot on the US National Team. Yara Elian, also on the US National team placed 7th overall in Figures. In the 13/15 age group Daria Torba and Taylor Fair placed 6th and 9th respectively.

   The Walnut Creek Aquanuts (WCA) is a world-renowned synchronized swim club based in Walnut Creek, California. Over its 45-year history, WCA has trained over 30 Olympic athletes and garnered more than 200 national and world competition titles.
