Colfax – Snowboarding – Senior
A two-time All-State snowboarder, Bryant won the California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation individual snowboard championship on March 6. Sitting in second place after two giant slalom runs the day before, Bryant turned in a fast final slalom run to capture the title. His victory also helped the Falcons earn a second place team finish in the boys’ team and overall (combined boys and girls) team competitions. In the fall, he was a standout wide receiver and had 11 TDs for a Colfax team that finished 9-3.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS: “I knew that I had to push a little harder and I just went for it,” he said of facing a narrow deficit before his final slalom run. “I was hoping to finish in the top 5 this year after getting a top 10 last year (he finished 7th), but I had a lot of confidence after I finished first in our league.”
WHAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW: Bryant is more than just a multi-sport athlete. He played football, snowboarded, and played baseball through his junior season, but is running track rather than playing baseball this year in order to help his football training. Bryant will focus on football at Sierra College with an eye on playing at a four-year school.
