For the 20th year, Concord’s Community Youth Center is hosting the only Junior Greco Roman tournament/developmental event in the United States and it is shaping up to be our best ever. We have teams participating from Hungary, Stockholm Sweden, and Scandinavia (Sweden & Norway). We also have domestic teams coming from Oregon, Kansas, Idaho/Utah, CYC/California, and a USA Team with wrestlers from Colorado, Florida, and New York. We have current World Team members, National Champions, and over 25 All Americans scheduled to participate. The foreign teams are also bringing some very tough Greco Roam wrestlers with several international medalists on their teams. The teams will wrestle in a round robin format, seven dual matches, and individual competition where they will wrestle three matches. The individual tournaments seeds are determined from the individual matches during the duals. Please see the tournament schedule below.
We will also have the 2016 US Olympic Greco Roman Wrestling Team coming in for a training camp, and to help with the developmental component of the event. We will have a free clinic open to any wrestler with a current USA Wrestling card on Friday May 20th at 6:00 P.M. here at the CYC. The Olympic Team members will also be working with the tournament participants throughout the competition.
