IT’S OFFICIAL. After years of continual and mutual support, the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) and SportStars Media have joined forces formalizing an Official Media Partnership. And it’s gonna be good!
Since 1982, NCVA has been on a mission to build one of the nation’s most comprehensive and encompassing club volleyball landscapes. Executive Director, Donna Donaghy and Chief Program Officer, Melissa Walker, continue to push the much-respected association forward with innovative ideas — and they’re thrilled with the opportunity to bring those ideas and innovations to light through the pages of SportStars.
“We are excited to partner with SportStars and their incredibly talented team to bring volleyball news to more households. As the fastest growing youth sport, we are always looking for more ways to bring these achievements to light”, Donaghy said.
Under Donaghy’s oversight, the partners will look to increase awareness, build participation and increase tournament play throughout various northern California communities.
“This is a long-anticipated, very exciting partnership,” said SportStars President, Mike Calamusa. “Beyond my personal interest in volleyball, having a daughter who played for many years, the sport is among the top five featured in SportStars youth media channels and enjoyed by our 300,000 readers throughout the state. Pairing with Donna and the NCVA team gives us the opportunity to provide content from THE SOURCE — one of the most respected regional chapters under the USA Volleyball umbrella. That allows us to present a more compelling picture of this fast-growing sport, with up-to-the-minute content emanating from the most trusted sources. It’s a combination sure to pique the interest of our student and club athletes, their coaches and parents, and add value for our advertising clients!”
Together, we are excited to spark conversations with middle and high school coaches to encourage more schools to offer volleyball programs, allowing more athletes to join the community. NCVA remains an active supporter of local high school volleyball by partnering with them to fundraise for their programs, provide affordable equipment, and continue to train and assign officials to many leagues throughout the bay area.
The NCVA covers Northern California to as far south as Bakersfield and eastward into parts of Northern Nevada. It produces 21 weekend tournaments and as many as 49 regional tournaments each year for girls and boys, including beach volleyball. In addition, they host tryouts and clinics for all skill levels.
