Senior forward Cruz Trenado of the men’s soccer team has been named the California Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, October 8.
Trenado, a Enochs High School, Modesto grad, earns this award after playing a key role in the Bobcats 3-1 victory against Benedictine University at Mesa where the Modesto native scored the go-ahead goal on a penalty kick with 10:52 remaining. The forward’s strong attack didn’t let up as Trenado notched another goal with just under three minutes remaining to give him his second two-goal game of his Bobcat career and three goals in 2017.
Notably this is UC Merced’s seventh Player of the Week honors for the 2017 fall season.
Overall, Trenado and the Bobcats went 1-1 on the week and are back in action against La Sierra University Sunday, October 15 on the Lake Field.
