Miramonte-Orinda – Basketball – Senior – Clair Steele
The Lehigh-bound point guard combined 18 points with five rebounds, four assists and four steals to help lead the Matadors to a 55-47 win over Heritage-Brentwood at the Lamorinda Classic Showcase in Moraga on Jan. 21.
Clair Steele, a four-year starter, is the unquestioned leader for a Miramonte team which went 16-4 through its first 20 games and began February ranked No. X in the SportStars NorCal Top 20. The Matadors, along with Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa, will be heavy favorites to play for the North Coast Section Div. II championship on the first weekend of March.
As of Jan. 28, Miramonte High School Basketball team’s only NorCal loss was to No. X Carondelet-Concord, 67-56 on Jan. 6. Carondelet will compete for an NCS Div. I title.
