A University of Arkansas-signee and the cover athlete to SportStars’ NorCal Baseball/Softball Preview this past March, Wicklander is doing more than just delivering on the hype. Wicklander is 5-1 with a 0.98 ERA and hurled a complete-game (7-inning) no-hitter with 18 strikeouts on April 10. The gem came in a 7-0 win over Riordan-S.F. that pushed the Warriors’ record to 17-1-1. Valley Christian has spent the entire season to date at No. 1 in the SportStars NorCal Top 20 rankings. One day prior to Wicklander’s no-no, the Warriors reached No. 1 in the Cal-Hi Sports state rankings. They were most recently at No. 8 in the MaxPreps.com Xcellent 25 national rankings. Wicklander has 66 strikeouts over his first 42.2 innings of work. Opposing batters are batting just .085 off of him.
