EVANS ACE: St. Joseph Notre Dame-Alameda Freshman Softball

Caroline Evans looked like anything but a freshman during the North Coast Section Division IV championship game on June 2.

Tossing a Championship Game No-hitter? No sweat! Evans also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a first-inning solo home run.

She tossed the first no-hitter of her high school career, striking out five and walking none in a 4-0 shutout of Del Norte-Crescent City.

Del Norte’s only two baserunners both reached on errors. She faced 23 batters and needed just 71 pitches.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, she also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a first-inning solo home run. She also doubled and scored twice.

It was St. Joseph’s second title in three seasons. The Pilots won the Div. V crown in 2016.
