Cardinal Newman – Santa Rosa Football – Shane Moran honored as SportStar of the Week.
Shane Moran, the Cardinal Newman football two-way standout at running back and linebacker helped fuel a 35-point first quarter that was all he and his Cardinals teammates needed in a 35-6 win over Balboa-San Francisco on Sept. 27.
Moran rushed four a pair of touchdowns, one from three yards out and one from 42. He also blocked a punt in the victory.
Shane Moran is a huge factor on defense as well. He entered the game as Newman’s second-leading tackler, averaging 10.5 per game.

The win completed a 4-1 nonleague season for the Cardinals. They’ll open North Bay League-Oak Division play against rival Rancho Cotate-Rohnert Park on Oct. 4.
