In just his second career varsity start, Jerry Johnson, the Pittsburg Pirates quarterback, tied a school record! Right. Six touchdown passes in a season-opening win at St. Mary’s-Stockton!
Johnson completed 21 of 31 passes for 368 yards and spread his six scoring strikes among four different receivers in the 42-35 shootout victory.

The game was a matchup between the No. 6 and 7 teams in SportStars’ NorCal Preseason Rankings.
Johnny Blackmon was Johnson’s favorite target on the night. Blackmon caught nine passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. No. 6 Pittsburg will travel to No. 8 Serra-San Mateo on Saturday, Aug. 31.
