After seeing his team’s 21-0 lead evaporate in the span of nine minutes on Friday night, John Brindley was given the chance to give the Jets a victory as time expired.

After Encinal drove 55 yards in just under four minutes, Brindley nailed a 23-yard field goal to defeat De Anza-Richmond 24-21 and send the Jets into the North Coast Section Division V championship game.
“I just zoned everything out, took my steps and kicked the ball,” Brindley said.
“I wasn’t sure (it’d be good) right when I kicked it. I just waited, and then I didn’t know how to react after. I just ran around.”
Top-seed Encinal will be seeking the program’s third NCS title and its first since 2008.
