Ava Ghio, Carmel: A two-time all-leaguer and state meet qualifier last fall, the junior distance ace is the top returning cross country runner in the county for the Padres.
Ghio was fourth in the CCS at the Division IV finals, clocking 19:03.00 at Crystal Springs. She did not lose to an opponent in the county last season for the Gabilan Division champions.
Bradley Moyer, North Salinas: Brought up last year as a sophomore, Moyer will have a bigger role on both sides of the ball for the Vikings this coming season.
The fleet receiver gives North Salinas another explosive threat on the outside, with solid hands and speed. He’ll also line up in the secondary as a defensive back, where he’s a technique savvy tackler.
Bryan Ortega, Greenfield: A valuable cog to the offensive line, Ortega is a punishing run blocker that can hold his block down field. The heartbeat of the offensive line, he’s also solid in pass protecting.
Ortega will also spend time in the trenches on the defensive side, giving the Bruins a player that can stack the interior line, or put pressure on the quarterback.
