WNBA legend Candace Parker was named the present of Adidas women’s basketball. The news came just one week after the pro baller announced her retirement, handing up her jersey with the Los Angeles Sparks late last month.
“Stepping into this new leadership role is a deeply personal next step in my journey with Adidas,” Parker stated in the announcement.
With her new role, Parker will oversee the sports company’s product lines and is exposed to make an “impactful direction, with a focus on access, increased representation, and breaking down barriers.”
Parker was rated No.1 overall back in 2008, going on to play after playing 13 seasons with the Parks and 16 seasons in total. She also played on seven WNBA All-Star teams.
The two-time MVP has three WNBA championships under her belt, including her wins with the Sparks, Chicago Sky, and Las Vegas Aces. Parker is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist, competing in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Games.

Other roles Parker has had off the court include being a commentator for TNT and CBS networks.
She joins the Adidas roster that includes athletes that include Aliyah Boston, Hailey Van Lith, Kahleah Copper, Aaliyah Edwards, Chelsea Gray, Betnijah Laney, Alysha Clark, Nneka Ogwumike, Chiney Ogwumike, and Erica Wheeler, among others.
