THE RUNDOWN

We ended up skipping a week due to our April edition deadlines, so there was a lot to unpack since our March 26 rankings. De La Salle was one of just three Top 20 teams who avoided defeat during the two-week stretch, and with former-No. 1 Valley Christian and No. 2 St. Francis-Mountain View each losing twice, the Spartans were a no-brainer to jump to the top. Valley Christian and St. Francis only drop to Nos. 3-4, respectively. Mitty-San Jose moves into the No. 2 spot after winning four of five and being one of the teams to defeat both Valley Christian and St. Francis.

Franklin-Elk Grove finishes out the Top 5, dropping one spot due Mitty’s surge to No. 2 creating a downward ripple. Serra-San Mateo went from a bubble team to No. 6 with its pair of wins over Valley Christian and St. Francis.  So that’s four WCAL programs in the Top 6, and a fifth — Bellarmine-San Jose — sits at No. 12. Meanwhile, the East Bay Athletic League has four teams in the rankings with No. 9 Foothill-Pleasanton, No. 11 Amador Valley-Pleasanton and No. 17 Monte Vista-Danville all filing in behind De La Salle.
