THE NEXT FIVE

21. Drake-San Anselmo (14-3), 22. Vacaville (13-5), 23. Dougherty Valley-San Ramon (13-4), 24. Northgate-Walnut Creek (13-2) and 25. Del Campo-Fair Oaks (16-3-1).

BIGGEST MOVERS

It was clear Serra had to move up into the Top 2 of the rankings, considering its multiple wins over both top-ranked Valley Christian and previous No. 3 Bellarmine.

The quandary we faced was whether Valley Christian’s resume was still strong enough to stay in the top spot. The two losses to Serra were the Warriors’ only defeats of the season and their season-long resume is as good as it gets.

Serra has a couple clunkers to non-ranked teams, but the Padres’ resume is also rock solid. Valley Christian was 6-2-1 against teams currently ranked; Serra was 6-2.

With a margin so thin, we had to let head-to-head decid it. So Serra takes over at the top.

They’re on our radar. However, one win in baseball doesn’t move the needle too much with rankings. Any team can run into a hot pitcher, or have an off day at the plate. Freedom is current 1-5 on the season against teams currently ranked. If they beat Heritage again AT Heritage on 5/3, then they’re going to start getting that respect.

What about The Kings Academy in Sunnyvale! Never have had a season like this in there history! Could make a deep run in CCS!

Winters high school (winters, CA) should get some love. They are #1 ranked small school in the nation by max preps and are 25-1. Only have 457 kids but have wins over teams like Chico, Christian brothers, Laguna Creek, Pioneer, etc. strength of schedule not as tough as some of the other schools on the list but they can play with anyone and have been absolutely dominant this year outscoring opponents 266-59 so far this year.

I agree bout Winters! But I think they only pay attention to D1 schools.

They’ll be in the newest rankings most certainly. This list was compiled prior to their two wins over Davis.
