FAST BREAKDOWN

One week after just about every ranked team shouldered was dealt at least one loss, the majority of the Top 20 took care of business. Fourteen of our ranked teams from last week went unbeaten. The most significant losses took place in the West Catholic Athletic League where St. Francis-Mountain View handed No. 6 Bellarmine-San Jose its first defeat of the season. Naturally, Bellarmine came back three nights later to knock off then-No. 2 Mitty-San Jose 68-56. Mitty’s loss allowed De La Salle-Concord and Dublin (both of which went 3-0 last week) to jump to No. 2 and 3, respectively. We didn’t move Mitty behind Bellarmine, though, since the Bells had the loss to St. Francis — a team Mitty beat by 20 earlier this season.

Jesuit-Carmichael dropped out of the Top 10 after a 70-61 nonleague loss to then-No. 18 St. Patrick-St. Vincent of Vallejo. Taking Jesuit’s place at No. 10 is Serra-San Mateo. The Padres enter the week as the only WCAL team still unbeaten in league play.

The two new teams to this week’s NorCal Boys Basketball Rankings are Los Altos and St. Mary’s-Stockton. Los Altos debuts at No. 18, right ahead of St. Mary’s thanks to a 57-48 head-to-head win over the Rams. St. Mary’s has a 73-68 win over No. 12 Campolindo on its resume.
