How is St. Mary’s ranked ahead of Central Catholic when CC wrecked them head-to-head at SM ?

We hardly think of 20-7 as “wrecked.” St. Mary’s was much higher ranked at the time, and has played a tougher schedule to this point. Losing by 13 points wasn’t enough to drop St. Mary’s from No. 2 all the way out of the Top 10, and Central Catholic couldn’t jump from the low 20s all the way to No. 5 either. The head-to-head will be taken into effect later in the season if both teams continue to log quality wins. Central Catholic is in a tougher league, so wins over Manteca and Oakdale would likely be enough to push them close enough to St. Mary’s so that the head-to-head came into play — and at that point, they would move past the Rams.

No mention of McClymonds high school in Oakland? Last year state Champs and currently 12-0.

If this were a Bay Area list, Mack would definitely be on it. But NorCal is tougher, and unfortunately the Warriors’ strength of schedule just isn’t there. If they finish 14-0 with another state bowl title, than they’ll likely crack the Final Top 25.
