USA Softball Western Nationals Swings into Placer

Maidu Park in Roseville and Foskett Park in Lincoln gear up for Major Girls Softball Competition, Skills Competition

USA Softball of Sacramento with Placer Valley Tourism will be hosting the USA Softball Western Nationals Championship for the 16u A & B divisions and the 18u B division on July 24-29.

The six-day event attracts more than 600 softball players to Placer Valley with games played at both the Roseville and Lincoln parks.

Thirty-eight teams from Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Georgia and California will come for opening ceremonies, Tuesday, July 24 at 8 p.m.

Ceremonies will include guest speakers, music and a laser light show.

USA Softball Western Nationals Championship Double Elimination Format

Jeff Dubchansky, Commissioner of USA Softball of Sacramento, explained that the tournament will use the pool play format with double elimination and with a four game minimum.

There will be a Skills Competition on Thursday, July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. This is designed to give the girls a break from the games and the opportunity to compete in base running, hitting, throwing and pitching.

Skills Competition winning athletes will receive prizes.

USA Softball of Sacramento has been privileged to host 32 National Championships between the Adult and Jr. Olympic Programs since 1978. It is always an honor to be a part of these prestigious tournaments,” added Dubchansky.

There is no admission fee, merchandise and food vendors will be on site.

Maidu Park is located at 1550 Maidu Dr, in Roseville and Foskett Park is at 1911 Finney Way in Lincoln.
