USATF’s Future Stars hit the track on the first day of the 2019 USATF Hershey National Youth Indoor Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday. Day one came to a close with 17 finals contested.

Clara James-Heer (Ann Arbor Track Club) dominated the 3000m in the 13-14 age group crossing the line in10:07.03, winning by more than 20-seconds. Last year James-Heer won the 1500m and 3000m in the 11-12 age group. Juliette Salazar (New York State) finished second in 10:41.39 and Amelia Wikstrom (Chelsea Greyhounds) placed third in 10:50.38.
In the Boys 11-12 3000m, teammates Tamrat Gavenas (Chelsea Greyhounds) and Amos Pres (Chelsea Greyhounds) finished one-two with times of 10:17.31 and 10:23.40, respectively. Nathan Lee (Tailwind) finished third in 10:28.89.
