Spooky season is expected to be a lot more thrilling for volleyball players. This is because the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) is packing October with plenty of events for local athletes to showcase their skills, tryout for clubs, and—most of all—have fun playing their favorite sport.
From spooky serves to competitive showdowns, the October lineup of events provides many opportunities for volleyball players to hit the court this fall season.
The NCVA also announced prestigious boys tournaments slated for December, along with its popular Holiday Bonanza scheduled for December 13–14.
Below is the exciting NCVA October event schedule.
Spike Fright
The month kicks off with a spooky start of events with the NCVA inaugural Spike Fright. Held on October 4 at @theGrounds, this Halloween-themed event is set to become a fall favorite. Teams can play in costumes or themed uniforms, so there is plenty of room to showcase that Halloween spirit. While this is a fun, festive event, it also expects players to serve up serious competition with competitive matchups and the chance for teams to test their skills early in the season.

Girls 11–14 Club Tryouts & Signing Day
The thrills continue the second weekend of October for the Girls 11–14 Club tryouts. Athletes from across Northern California are set to compete for a limited number of spots on teams’ rosters for the upcoming season. This is the weekend where female volleyball players get to show off their athleticism and game play.
After tryouts, Signing Day is scheduled for October 15, the date when athletes officially commit to their new teams.
Youth, Non, and Adult Leagues
The NCVA is closing out October events with its Youth, Non, and Adult League competition that is to take place on October 25–26 at locations in the Bay Area. This weekend is the ideal way to improve skills and stay connected to the volleyball community this fall.
Looking Ahead: December Tournaments
October will be action-packed, but the events do not stop there heading into winter.
First up for December is the Boys Far Western, a prestigious NCVA Boys Junior National Qualifier. Taking place December 6–7 at the Capital Sports Center, this tournament brings out the top boys’ teams from across the region to compete for a spot at nationals.
Finally, the NCVA announced its highly anticipated Holiday Bonanza is scheduled for December 13–14 at @theGrounds in Roseville.
