USATF Announces The Olympic Track And Field Team

Olympic track and field team announced

After days of exciting races and events from June 21-30 at the U.S. Olympic team trials for track and field in Eugene, Oregon, the athletes that will represent the United States at the 2024 Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris were announced.

The USAFT revealed the names of the athletes that qualified for Team USA, along with the additional athletes selected in the relay pool.

The list of sprinters heading to the Olympics includes Sha’Carri Richardson who holds the 2023 World Championship title in the 100-meter. She also helped Team USATF to win the gold in the 4×100 at last year’s World Championship.

Olympian Noah Lyles also made this year’s Olympic team competing in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Lyles has the third-fastest 200-meter time on record. Lyles is set to be a key asset on the 4×100 relay.

Gabby Thomas, the second fastest American ever with her personal best of 21.60, is set to compete on Team USA in the women’s 200 meters. She has the fastest time in the world this year and finished in the semifinal with a time of 21.78.

Silver medalist from the Tokyo Games in the men’s 110 hurdles Grant Holloway made the team after his 12.86 win at the Olympic Trials.

In the field events is two-time shot put gold medalist and world record holder Ryan Crouser, the defending women’s pole vault champion Katie Moon, and gold medalist in the women’s discus Valarie Allman. Also joining the team is Raven Saunders, the silver medalist in the shot put at the Tokyo Games.

In the relay pool is 16-year-old Quincy Wilson, who set a world record for the fastest 18U 400m with a finish time of 44.66 seconds but did not qualify for the event. He is expected to be an asset on the 4×400 relay. Also in the relay pool is Christian Coleman, the 60-meter world champion and world record holder. Coleman missed the 100-meter team by one spot.
