Clovis produces fourth win against Central East, secures CIF Northern California Division 1 girls basketball title

Milly Rojas, a Concordia University-bound senior guard, had 29 points, including nine 3-point field goals, along with four blocked shots and fellow senior and Long Beach State commit Sadie Sin contributed 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for top-seeded Clovis in a 76-59 girls basketball victory against No. 6 Central East in the CIF Northern California Regional final of the Division 1 state playoffs in Clovis.

Gia Souza added 11 points and six rebounds, with Yasmin Aguilera scoring nine points and Amieya Walters adding eight points for the Cougars, who defeated Central East for the fourth time this season, including a 55-43 triumph Feb. 20 in the CIF-Central Section Division 1 semifinals.

Clovis captured its first regional crown, following home losses in the Division 3 regional final in 2018 and the Division 2 regional championship game in 2020.

Savana Chase had 18 points, with Sanai Herod scoring 13 points and Zyraeis Murphy contributing 12 points for Central East, which was appearing in its second regional final, following a 62-51 win in the Northern California Division 2 championship game in 2023.

The Bengals went on to secure the Division 2 state crown that season with a 52-41 triumph against Bonita Vista.

Clovis will compete March 13 in the Division 1 state final against Corona Centennial at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
