If Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is the reigning queen of the women’s 400m hurdles, her glass slipper is the New Balance MD-X V3 running spikes.
McLaughlin-Levrone became a track and field sensation at the 2024 Paris Olympics after her world record-breaking win in the women’s 400m hurdle finals on Thursday, August 8. She finished and set the new record in 50.37.
“I came here with a goal to win gold but had to handle it one race at a time, focus on myself, control what I could control, and improve each time,” said Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. “I felt so strong in the backend of the race but the moment I crossed the finish line, I couldn’t believe it. To win my second gold medal in the 400m hurdles and break my own world record is such a blessing and I’m so thankful for my team, my coach, my family, and sponsors for the amazing support system.”
In second place was Team USA’s Anna Cockrell with 51.87, followed by Femke Bol from the Netherlands (and fellow New Balance athlete) with 52.15.
“Sydney is such an impressive athlete and competitor. You never know what kind of greatness her races will hold. For her to bring home another gold medal to the US and also break her world record for the second time in one year is one of many reasons we’re proud she’s a part of the New Balance family,” said Pete Riley, Head of Running Sports Marketing at New Balance.
Running Spikes Fit For A Queen
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone paraded around the Stade De France with the American flag dropped around like a cape after her win. Like true track and field royalty, her sister-in-law crowned her with a tiara to complete her victorious look.
As a New Balance athlete, it would make sense for McLaughlin-Levrone to wear the brand’s footwear. But she wasn’t alone. Along with Bol, Team USA’s 200m gold medalist, Gabby Thomas also wore the New Balance spikes for the Olympic races.
Released in the spring of 2024, the MD-X V3 is described as being a “bouncy” yet smooth and responsive option built for middle-distance runners. One can see why the hurdle sensation would choose these to compete in.
The New Balance MD-X V3 spikes have a neutral support with a full carbon plate and features that includes six built-in pins. This provides traction for the track while helping drive the feet forward. It also has the New Balance Fuelcell foam to aid in both comfort and propulsion.
These spikes are lightweight without feeling bulky on.
The New Balance MD-X V3 spikes comes in a neutral color scheme that is part of McLaughlin-Levrone signature collection with New Balance.
These running spikes made for Olympians and every day track stars alike are available from New Balance for $159.99.
