The 13-year-old female from Palatine Pack TTCC A took home the national title, with Quinn Hanley and Jordyn Grossnickle four seconds apart for second and third place. Radtke took home the title in the boys’ race in 13:12.7.
Molly Mocko stole the spotlight at the Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, crossing the finish line in the girls 13-14 4-kilometer race under snowfall in prideful disbelief in 14:38.8.
Held on Saturday, December 13, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Mocko started off strong in the front of the pack and held her composure and pace in a field of 292 runners in the division.
Quinn Hanley with BowermanTrack placed second in 14:44.2, followed by Jordyn Grossnickle in 14:48.4.
The runners kept piling in swiftly, Katherine Kessi crossing the finish line in 14:52.7, followed by Grace Walsh in 14:55.6, Chloe Lentz in 14:59.9, and Sofia Wroblewski in 15:11.4.
Wroblewski had a very successful track season last spring, with momentum continuing this cross country season. She finished in first place in 14:49.57 at October’s LA Jetts Cross Country Invitational.
Wroblewski is most noted for becoming the National Champion with her PR of 10:34 in the 3k at the 2024 USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships.
Samuel Radtke e dominated the boys’ race in 13:12.7, followed by Eli Hernandez in 13:24.7, and Lucas Pfoutz in 13:26.
