Folsom High School Baseball Team Becomes “Baseball Buddies” for Challenger League Youth.
As you know by reading SportStars, Little League Challenger Program is for Youth with Disabilities and Special needs.
Starting at 11:30 a.m. at Ernie Sheldon Park, Natoma Station Drive, Folsom, CA, the Folsom High School varsity baseball team will become special Baseball buddies for 30 players with intellectual and physical challenges from District 54 Little League. Folsom Baseball players will hold a special instructional clinic followed by a game on Saturday April 1.
The Little League Challenger Program is for Youth with intellectual and physical challenges., ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.
“On behalf of the Folsom High School Baseball Program, I’m honored that our players have the opportunity to work with the Challenger Program. The Challenger Clinic will be an excellent opportunity for the Folsom Baseball Program, and will have an impact on the challenger kids and the community. Working with the challenger kids will help build character and compassion with the Folsom Baseball Players. The lifelong values gained from this event will be priceless. The Challenger event will be fun for all involved. It reminds our players how fortunate they are”, said Aaron Agnew, Folsom’s Head Varsity Baseball Coach.
Since 1959, California District 54 Little League has provide the opportunity for families to connect and for children to come together in a healthy, safe environment to learn the values of team sports and the fundamentals of Baseball, Softball and Challenger. California District 54 is proud to be able to provide this opportunity to our community.
Sacramento Republic FC Soccer partners up with Local Little Leagues to let them play Baseball on their Soccer Field at Cal Expo’s Papa Murphy’s Park.
Little League Challenger Program will also have a Special Game on the Soccer field at Cal Expo’s Papa Murphy’s Park. This will benefit the youth in the community and let the kids see a professional soccer game.
On June 4, 2017 starting at 9:30 a.m. the Sacramento Republic FC will host the first Little League Section-Wide Challenger game for intellectual and physical challenged Baseball Players. The night before (June 3) Sacramento Republic FC will recognize the Little League Players and Team Buddies at their Home game, while the Little Leaguers enjoy the experience of a professional soccer game. Up to 80 Little League Challenger Players & their Buddies from California Section 4 Little Leagues, that range from Sacramento Metro to the Sierra Foothills and surrounding communities will play in the baseball game. Little League District 54 is currently raising funds to purchase 250 tickets for Challenger Players and their Buddies for the June 3rd soccer game. “We have a goal to sell 250 tickets so if anybody is interested in sponsoring a Little Player, call Mac Cameron 916-599-0611, they can access tickets by going to www.sacrepublicfc.com.
