One of the oldest meets in the country, the Far Westerns Diving Meet, took place in Santa Clara August 9-11. What makes Far Westerns a particularly special meet, besides its long history, are the myriad events in which each diver can participate.
Athletes can dive from platforms (5, 7, or 10 meters high) which is extremely thrilling for the more courageous. And they can also dive from the conventional 1 and 3 meter springboards.
Events also include Synchronized Diving with a partner, where each diver dives from springboards side by side.
Synchronized diving has a unique scoring system where certain judges score the individual divers while other judges score the synchronicity of the two dives together.
