SECOND TEAM

  DESIRE FINNIE
  BASICS: Berkeley, Sr., Guard

WHY SHE’S HERE: Finnie was pretty much all the experience the young Yellowjackets could bring to the table, but she led Berkeley by example into the NorCal finals. She averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds a game and will play for Pacific next year.

  GABBY GREEN
  BASICS: St. Mary’s-Berkeley, Sr., Guard
WHY SHE’S HERE: The marvelously talented Green was a McDonald’s All-American and has unlimited potential, but she missed nearly 20 percent of the season due to injuries. If the focus was on the future, Green’s on the first team, but the competition was very tough for the top five spots, and Green’s missed time was the deciding factor. She averaged 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

  CHARISE HOLLOWAY
  BASICS: St. Mary’s-Stockton, Sr., Forward
WHY SHE’S HERE: Like Green, Holloway’s season was marred by injury “” in this case, a late-season ACL tear “” but the multi-skilled Holloway was a beast for one of the top teams in the area. The Arizona State-commit averaged 16.6 points and 6 rebounds a contest.

  ASHA THOMAS
BASICS: Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland, So., Point Guard
WHY SHE’S HERE: Thomas combines a perimeter game with the ability to penetrate and run a team. She averaged 14.6 points and 7.4 assists and was the biggest reason the Dragons were 23-4. She will be the leader on the team most expect to be the best in Northern California next year.

Lexi Tubbs, Modesto Christian

    LEXI TUBBS
    BASICS: Modesto Christian, Sr., Wing
WHY SHE’S HERE: Modesto Christian claimed its first-ever state title, and Tubbs was the leading scorer (16.8 ppg) for Robb Spencer’s group. Tubbs contributed in more categories than just scoring, however, and was one of the top rebounders, assist-makers and shotblockers on the team.

THIRD TEAM

  MORGAN BERTSCH
  BASICS: Santa Rosa, Sr., Senior
WHY SHE’S HERE: The 6-4 Bertsch averaged 17.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game for Santa Rosa, which       won 51 games in the past two seasons with Bertsch in the middle. She’ll play for UC Davis next season.

  MAKENZIE CAST
  BASICS: Carondelet-Concord, Sr., Guard
WHY SHE’S HERE: Cast’s long-distance bombing was the perfect complement for Natalie Romeo’s ability to draw defenders, and her development into much more than just a spot-up shooter was a big reason Carondelet was one of the top teams in Northern California. Cast averaged 15.4 a game for the Cougars.

  DALAYNA SAMPTON
  BASICS: Florin-Sacramento, Sr., Forward
WHY SHE’S HERE: The Sacramento Bee Player of the Year averaged 21.4 points, 17.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists for Florin, which was another postseason victim of eventual-state champion Modesto Christian. She’ll play for Hawaii next year.

  KAMIRA SANDERS
  BASICS: Enterprise-Redding, Soph., Guard
WHY SHE’S HERE: Sanders averaged more than 18 points a game for Enterprise, widely considered to be the best Northern Section team this century. Enterprise lost only three games on the season, one of them by two points in a playoff loss to eventual-state champion Modesto Christian.

  GE’ANNA SUMMERS-LUAULU
BASICS: Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sr., Guard
WHY SHE’S HERE: Summers-Luaulu was the co-Player of the Year in the toughest league in Northern California “” the West Catholic Athletic League “” and though her scoring totals might not quite match those of other high school stars, her all-around contributions were undeniable.
