Folsom – Senior – Track & Field

The senior finished second in the 300 hurdles at the CIF State Track and Field Championships to cap a successful senior season. He set a personal record of 37.09 seconds in the event during the prelims and crossed the finish line in the finals at 37.12. Carter also raced in the 110 hurdles at state and finished 8th. Slowed by injuries during his junior season, he recuperated from back spasms and hamstring issues to win the 110 and 300 hurdles at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championship to qualify for the state meet in both events. A native of Texas who moved to California before his junior season, he expects to return home in the fall and attend Texas State University in San Marcos.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: “My coach (Conway Hill) put a plan in place for me to follow from Day One all the way through State that I followed to get me there.”

WHAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW: Carter has a passion for racing that started on speed kart tracks in Texas. From age 6-11, he raced the karts until the sport became too expensive. “When I stopped racing the karts, I moved to the track to race.”
