Sullivan elevated to Director of Coaching (DOC). The Diablo Futbol Club thanks Brian Voltattorni for helping Diablo FC become a premier club in the region. Back in 2008, Diablo FC was formed with the merger of DVSC and MDSL and it was the absolute best thing for this area. Brian has worked tirelessly for the past 7 years allowing the club to evolve and grow, as it continues to develop great teams and players of the highest caliber. Moving forward, Brian will be taking on a new position as Director of Youth Development and Community Outreach for the club. He will focus on the development and advancement of our Recreational Program, Community Outreach, and recruitment of players through collaborative programs like the Quakes RDS system.
As for Sullivan, he will be responsible for supervising coaches and player development for all girls and boys teams. Mr. Sullivan was selected following a lengthy interview process by the Board of Directors, which involved many qualified candidates. He has a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, from California State University; Chico. Most Recently, Mr. Sullivan, served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Merritt College, since 2008. He brings a wealth of experience to Diablo FC, and has coached at DFC since 2011, and was at Lamorinda from 2009-2011as a coach and technical coordinator for U11-U14 boys. He received the Bay Valley Conference Coach of the Year Award in 2013 and took his team to the conference championship. He currently serves as the Head Coach for a number of DFC teams and Assistant Girls Director. Diablo FC has become the regional leader in affordable youth soccer player development. As our Director of Coaching, Zachary Sullivan, along with the highly trained coaches and training staff, plan to develop a deep and talented player pool. His enthusiastic training sessions will allow our players to do the work it takes to accelerate their development while having fun.
“I am very excited for my new role at DFC. DFC is one of the elite soccer clubs in Northern California and has the potential to continue its growth. DFC is a true community-based soccer club with a real family feel” he said, “DFC prides itself on emphasizing player development. I hope to continue to prepare our soccer players for a potential college opportunity. DFC’s track record for placing players on college teams speaks for itself. The coaching staff is one of the best in the business.”
“I really care about all of my players and want to see them develop and grow into mature adults.”
“I have a chance to have a positive impact on their lives and I take that part very seriously. The kids need to get better every day, but enjoy doing it by working hard and competing. Wearing the DFC uniform is something special, I want to instill in our players that when they put on their DFC uniform they are a part of more than just a team or a club, rather a family!”
When not coaching or playing soccer, Mr. Sullivan lives in Fairfield with wife, Dani and sons Peyton (6) and Noah (2).
He officially assumed the DOC role on September 1, and will be at training sessions and club meetings. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role as we look forward to a bright future. Website: Diablo FC
