SoCal League Summer Outreach Tour Kicks Off May 26th at Haro Bikes

The SoCal High School Cycling League is taking its show on the road and providing a series of informational events to people interested in seeing a high school or middle school mountain bike club form at their local school. This year they’re kicking off the tour at 7:00 PM on Thursday May 26th at Haro Bikes in Vista (north San Diego County). You’ll even learn how to form a high school or middle school club of your own!

“Many people have heard of the SoCal League and want to start or be involved with a high school or middle school club but they just don’t know where to begin,” said SoCal League Director Matt Gunnell. “Outreach events are designed to give people a brief overview of the League to allow them to confidently head down the path toward participation as a team founder, coach, or student-athlete. Learning how to get the ball rolling before school is out for summer will allow folks to get a head start on forming clubs for the spring 2017 season.”

There is no charge to attend and no RSVP is needed. Events are targeted at prospective club founders, prospective coaches, teachers, school administrators, parents, riders, and supporters. You will hear a one hour presentation and then have plenty of time for Q&A. Please help us spread the word!

About the SoCal High School Cycling League

The SoCal High School Cycling League was organized in 2008 to provide a well defined race season for high school student-athletes and to promote the formation of teams at public and private high schools. In 2014 that grew to include a middle school program designed to introduce middle school aged riders to the sport of mountain biking focused heavily on skills, fun, fitness, and responsibility with a taste of the competitive aspects of mountain biking. With the cooperation of local race promoters and our sponsors we produce a first class series of races in addition to providing training for coaches and riders. The League is working to make interscholastic racing the easiest way for youth to get involved in the challenging and exciting world of competitive cycling. NICA and the SoCal League exist by virtue of a range of fundraising activities, as well as generous donors, and sponsors including founding national sponsor Specialized Bicycle Components, Easton Foundations, SRAM, and Trek Bicycles; major sponsors Kenda Tire, Primal Wear, Bicycling, Clif Bar & Company, Giro, Podiumwear, and Quality Bicycle Parts; sponsors Casino Bicycles, Haro MTB, Husqvarna Motorcycles, Hyper Threads, ICE Sportswear, Jax Bicycle Center, JensonUSA, Camelbak, GU, and Maxxis.
