Athletes know that proper hydration can make or break performance. Whether running laps on the track, cycling on winding roads, doing drills for soccer, or hitting the sand volleyball season, the spring and summer seasons means athletes are working on endurance and sweating through these workouts. This is why it’s important to replenish electrolytes and fluids lost via sweat. For endurance athletes looking for a natural sports drink with clean ingredients, checking out Coco5 is a must.
Coco5 is a coconut water–based electrolyte drink designed to support hydration, recovery, and sustained energy for endurance athletes who demand clean, natural performance fuel.  It has sport legends like Charles Barkley behind the brand, as well as Devin Booker, D’Angelo Russell, and Derrick Rose. With these pro athletes endorsing it, we had to try it for ourselves to see if it lives up to its hype.
In this review, we take a closer look at Coco5’s ingredients, benefits, taste, and whether it truly delivers the hydration endurance athletes need.

Coco5: Why Natural Ingredients Matter

The market is filled with so many sports drinks. The problem is that many options are filled with sugar and other unhealthy ingredients, including caffeine. As a result, athletes may be left with a sugar crash, the jitters, increased anxiety, and headaches.
With the idea created in the locker room of a professional hockey team, this product is a quality sports drink that is made for the needs of athletes. This includes natural electrolytes via coconut water that deliver clean hydration to restore balance naturally. The coconut water supplies potassium and magnesium needed to support endurance athletes.
There are no dyes or artificial sweeteners, plus it is vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and plant-based. There is no caffeine and only 10 grams of pure cane sugar per serving (16.9).
It’s called Coco5 because there are five electrolytes, with eight clean ingredients, it is 26 percent coconut water, and is available in seven bold and delicious flavors. Athletes should focus on clean ingredients because nutrients are better absorbed without a negative effect on gut health from added chemicals or preservatives. Clean ingredients also boost recovery and support mental and physical performance.
Also on board on the Coco5 team are sports nutritionists and NHL professional medical experts to make sure this is a healthier beverage alternative for professional athletes, recreational athletes, and active people of all ages

Taste Worth Trying

There is no questioning that Coco5 hits it out of the park in the flavor department. Many options are either too sweet or leave a strange aftertaste, especially in the all-natural ingredient space.
The Coco5 flavor options include: cherry, pineapple, lime, passionfruit, orange, coconut, and grape. After tasting all of the flavors of Coco5, there is not one flavor that is too sweet or tangy. There is no aftertaste or fake sweetener flavor residue.
For these specific taste buds, passionfruit was the clear winner when it came to the best tasting. This is packed with flavor, not overly sweet but still scrumptious after a run—especially when chilled or served over ice. This flavor gave all the fruit punch vibes and quenched thirst after sweaty workouts.
The pineapple was a close second top favorite in our biased opinion because of its explosively delicious taste. Again, perfect during a hot and sweaty workout, the pineapple delivers in refreshing and rehydrating.

The other flavors all hold up their own weight, and while taste goes based on individual preference, it was hard to find one that was lacking.
As someone who doesn’t like the taste of coconut, but loves the hydration of the fruit, we are pleased to inform there is no overly powerful coconut taste. A consumer wouldn’t even know coconut water is an ingredient in the other, more fruity and citrus flavors.

The Bottom Line: Why Buy This Sports Drink

Coco5 delivers on replenishing electrolytes, and it’s hard not to feel revitalized when sipping on a bottle post-workout. The body is left feeling hydrated and ready to continue a workout or take on the day. There is no crashing, headaches, or stomach cramps when drinking. It feels good to know that there are no additives or caffeine, so no sugar crashes or headaches. It’s just clean ingredients made for athletes for athletes.
Coco5 is sold online, as well as at retailers like Walmart, Target, and select grocery stores like Sprouts Farmers Market.
