Feel like you’re playing in the Big Leagues by taking in the type of views legends Babe Ruth or Ted Williams had at the famous replicas of major league ballparks at Big League Dreams in Redding.
The 30-plus acre complex features scaled-down replicas of Boston’s Fenway Park, New York’s Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field. Try and hit it over the “Green Monster” of Fenway’s left field, call your shot like “The Babe” in the 1932 World Series, or feel the ambiance of the ivy on the outfield wall on the north side of Chicago.
All venues contain electronic scoreboards, lights and stadium seating to accommodate youth baseball, youth fast-pitch softball and adult slo-pitch softball. Take some practice swings in the batting cages and stop off for a postgame meal in the Stadium Club restaurant.
The Big League Dreams field house expands your athletic endeavors by offering indoor soccer, roller hockey and basketball. Or stay outside in the sun to play some sand volleyball.
On April 22, Big League Dreams continues in the Kool April Nites car show tradition for the fourth straight year by hosting a show and shine for classic cars at the sports park from 6 to 9 p.m. An inaugural 3-on-3 basketball tournament is scheduled for April 23.
As for its feature sports, baseball and softball, the complex will host the Hardball North youth baseball tournament from April 22-23, a slo-pitch softball event from May 6-7 and USSSA fastpitch softball from May 20-21.
Big League Dreams also offers leagues in softball, soccer, kickball, hockey and flag football.
