FAST BREAKDOWN
OK, so let’s start in the East Bay Athletic League where former-No. 20 Monte Vista-Danville upset visiting No. 2 Dougherty Valley last Thursday. And yet the Mustangs have since dropped out and the Wildcats remain at No. 2.
We decided not to ding Dougherty Valley for the 64-61 defeat in which the Wildcats were playing without star guard Ryan Beasley. Surely his 22.8 points per game average would’ve factored. Meanwhile, Monte Vista slips from the bottom rung after a 66-62 Tuesday night home loss to unranked California-San Ramon.

In the West Catholic Athletic League, previous-No. 7 Riordan-S.F. slips three spots for its loss to St. Ignatius-S.F. late last week. Salesian-Richmond is now inside the Top 10 again at No. 9. Notably, none of the Pride’s seven losses are to NorCal opponents.
Granada-Livermore slipped three spots outside of the Top 10 after a couple of tough EBAL losses to No. 11 San Ramon Valley and No. 8 Dublin. And in Diablo Athletic League play, Campolindo-Moraga jumped back up to No. 14 after avenging an earlier season loss to then-No. 12 Clayton Valley on Tuesday night. The Ugly Eagles slipped five spots to No. 17 after the loss.
As for new teams this week, Lincoln-Stockton makes its season debut at No. 18. The Trojans have been extremely consistent en route to 20 wins. Meanwhile, their three losses are to Mater Dei-Santa Ana, No. 1 Modesto Christian and No. 13 St. Mary’s-Stockton.
The Sac-Joaquin Section also has the other new team this week as Vanden-Fairfield returns and takes over No. 20. The Vikings continue to benefit from a pair of wins over Campolindo.
