Let’s meet this week’s nominees:

BRANHAM BOYS VOLLEYBALL: After losing the Central Coast Section Division I championship match 3-1 to Carlmont-Belmont on May 13, the Bruins were handed the top seed in the CIF Div. IV NorCal bracket and promptly stormed to a title. They won all three matches in straight sets. They finished 28-6 on the year.

CAMPOLINDO GIRLS TRACK: Mari Testa claimed three individual golds and Ellie Buckley nabbed a silver and bronze as the Cougars racked up 55 points and took the North Coast Section crown for the second straight year.

PITTSBURG BASEBALL: Twelfth seed, schmelth seed! The Pirates finished third in the Bay Valley Athletic League and hadn’t beaten a nonleague opponent since April 4th when they topped NorCal-ranked No. 10 Granada-Livermore 8-4 in the opening round of the NCS Division I tournament. Pittsburg kept the Cinderella run going with a 4-2 quarterfinals win over Freedom-Oakley.

VACAVILLE SOFTBALL: As the top seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II bracket, the 28-1 Bulldogs were fully expected to take care of business in their first two playoff games. But they didn’t leave any doubt in either game. Winning both games by shutout and holding Atwater (8-0 win) and Cordova (2-0) to a combined six hits.

Time to vote for Team of the Week! Get to it.
