Corona Centennial captures CIF Southern California Regional Division 1 girls basketball crown, earns first state berth

Sydney Douglas, a sophomore forward, had 27 points and 14 rebounds, with McDonald’s All-America honoree and Kansas signee Cydnee Bryant adding 15 points and 20 rebounds for No. 5 seed Corona Centennial in an 81-61 girls basketball victory March 10 against No. 2 Rancho Christian in the CIF Southern California Regional final of the Division 1 state playoffs.
Corona Centennial won its second regional crown in program history, along with the Open Division regional title in 2021 following a 65-51 triumph against Mater Dei.
The Huskies will play in their first state final, since the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of state championship games in both 2020 and 2021.
Princess Hunkin scored 20 points, with Armanyie Reed adding nine points and 15 assists for Corona Centennial.
Reed, a Bishop Montgomery transfer, contributed to the Knights winning the 2024 Division 1 state championship.
Alyson Boyd had 25 points for Rancho Christian, which advanced to its first regional final in program history.
Corona Centennial will compete March 13 against another first-time state finalist in Clovis at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
