Alejandra Barragan had a match-high five goals and fellow sophomore Chloe Patrick added three goals for second-seeded Birmingham Charter High in California in a 13-4 girls water polo victory against top-seeded Coronado High of California in the CIF Southern California Regional Division 3 championship match Feb. 28 at the Monte Nitzkowski Aquatics Center on the campus of Long Beach City College.

Eli St. Hubert, a freshman goalkeeper, recorded eight saves for the Patriots, who held Coronado scoreless in the second half and produced the final seven goals of the match. Joliette St. Hubert, a sophomore, scored twice for Birmingham.

Birmingham became the first L.A. City Section girls water polo program to win a regional title, regardless of division.

The Patriots had suffered a 14-9 loss to Mar Vista in the Division 3 regional final in 2020, followed by a 20-5 setback last season against Cathedral Catholic in the regional championship game.

Inah Bingham scored twice for the Islanders.
