Fastpitch Frenzy at the 12U ASA/USA National Championship July 27 – August 2

The Greater Sacramento Softball Association (GSSA) has landed the coveted 2015 12U ASA/USA National Championship.  This prestigious tournament will take place over the entire week, from July 27-August 2 in Roseville.  Placer Valley Tourism and GSSA are thrilled to be partnering to bring this National Championship to Placer Valley where all games will be played at Maidu Park and Mahany Park.

There are 55 teams scheduled to compete and as a national tournament several states will be represented including Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Illinois, South Dakota, Texas, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, and of course, California.  Every team competing had to qualify by participating in championship play held throughout the country earlier this year. There is a four game guarantee for each team and the competition will be fierce. 

Jeff Dubchansky, the Commissioner for GSSA, explained this is considered one of the Big 6 of the National Tournaments for ASA/USA Softball and hosting an event of this magnitude is huge for our area.  “The way the votes are calculated and the country is divided it is very difficult for the West Coast to land a National Tournament through the Amateur Softball Association,” added Dubchansky.  

This exciting tournament will kick-off with an amazing Opening Day on Monday, July 27, where most of the activities will take place at the Woodcreek High School campus. There will be music, photo booths, bounce houses, games, food vendors and USA Gold Medalist, Leah O’Brien Amico making a special appearance as a guest speaker. Games will start on Tuesday, July 28 and the final round will take place on Sunday, August 2.
