Federal Way, Washington (June 27, 2014) “” 27 members of the Santa Clara Aquamaids synchronized swimming team are set to compete for a national title at the 2014 U.S. eSynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships from June 27-July 5 in Federal Way, Washington. The meet is the largest synchronized swimming meet in the US, and features competition in four age groups: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-17 and 18-19. 

Santa Clara Aquamaids 13-15 qualifiers include :

·       Hailee Heinrich, Age 13, RJ Fisher Middle School, Los Gatos

·       Jacklyn Luu, Age 15, Valley Christian High School, Milpitas

·       Rachel Ye, Age 15, Los Gatos High, San Jose

·       Camryn Carrasco, Age 14, Santa Clara High School, Santa Clara

·       Chiara Steele , Age 11, Redwood Middle School, Los Gatos

·       Iris Marchant, Age 11, Rolling Hills Middle School, San Jose

·       Nicole Goot, Age 11, Union Middle School, San Jose

·       Marilyn Weaver, Age 11, John Muir Middle School, San Jose

 

   These athletes will compete in 13-15 and 11-12 age groups in team trio, duet and solo. They qualified for the national championships by placing among the top three finishers at the regional championships at Walnut Creek, CA in May 18, 2014, which featured top athletes from all over California.

   Synchronized swimming requires a unique combination of strength, agility, endurance, flexibility and speed.  Santa Clara Aquamaids practice at least 3 hours per day, 6 days per week at the Walburton Pool in Santa Clara and Gunderson Pool in San Jose.   Elite-level synchronized swimmers typically practice eight hours per day, six days per week.
