Alemany quarterback Miller Moss, who recently committed to USC, has applied for enrollment at Mater Dei.

Mater Dei associate athletic director Jessica Perry said via email that Moss had not been accepted at Mater Dei as of Monday, June 8.

Moss (6-3, 200) is the fifth-ranked pro-style quarterback in the class of 2021 by 247 Sports.

He passed for 3,118 yards and 28 touchdowns last season at Alemany, which went 9-3 and reached the CIF-SS Division 3 semifinals.

Mater Dei’s quarterback last season was Bryce Young, a senior who is now at Alabama. Mater Dei lost to St. John Bosco in the CIF-SS Division 1 championship game.

“Wish him the best of luck,” Alemany coach Casey Clausen said of Moss. “Our program is headed in the right direction and we’re excited to work with players and families that want to be here.”

Moss played at Loyola his freshman year but then transferred to Alemany.

Moss is the second quarterback in recent months to transfer to Mater Dei. Emmett Brown, who played at San Marcos of San Diego last season, enrolled at the school in February.

Brown (5-11, 180), who will be a junior in the fall, is a dual-threat quarterback who is considered one of the top prospects in the state for his class.
