SportStar Of The Week – Drake-San Anselmo – Baseball – Junior Ryan McLaughlin

McLaughlin was facing an undefeated Miramonte-Orinda baseball team in the North Coast Section Division III championship game. They were just mere miles from the Miramonte campus.  McLaughlin took the mound and spun a complete-game four-hitter. Furthermore, he allowed just one earned run. He also struck out seven in a 4-3 victory for the Pirates at Saint Mary’s College. In addition, McLaughlin even helped himself with the bat. He ripped a two-run double as part of a three-run fourth inning that gave Drake the lead for good.

As a result, Ryan McLaughlin finished the season with an impressive 9-1 pitching record, a 0.45 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 77 innings of work. Offensively, he hit .321 with 15 RBI and 13 runs scored. Drake-San Anselmo baseball finished 25-5 and won its fourth section title and second in three seasons.
