SJS Two-Way Talent Earns Zach Meddings SportStar of the Week Honors
Franklin High’s Zach Meddings, the Nevada-bound senior, has developed into one of the best two-way talents on arguably the Sac-Joaquin Section’s most complete baseball team this season.
The Wildcats went 3-1 at the prestigious Northern California Boras Classic in Sacramento from April 15-18. Meddings went 3-for-10 in the tournament with four runs scored.
He also started the team’s final game against Pleasant Valley-Chico and tossed five innings of one-hit ball to get the win.
Through 17 games, Meddings was hitting .397 with 24 runs scored and 13 runs batted in. After the win over Pleasant Valley, his pitching record was 5-1 and he lowered his ERA to 1.37.
Franklin finished the tournament with a 15-2 overall record.
