INSIDE THE RANKINGS:
In the end, only one Top 20 team brought at CIF State Volleyball Championship trophy back to the North State. That was recent No. 20 arrival, Lowell-S.F.. The Cardinals defeated South Pasadena in four sets to win the Div. III hardware. Former No. 14 Los Gatos came up one set shy in the Div. II state final. However, the Wildcats still moved up one spot in the final rankings in order to slot ahead of the Central Catholic-Modesto team they beat in the NorCal final.
No. 7 Campolindo-Moraga played an extremely competitive match with Vista Murrieta before falling in four sets. The Div. I NorCal champion needed to stay at No. 7, behind the six programs that were in the NorCal Open bracket. No. 1 Marin Catholic swept No. 2 Bishop O’Dowd for the NorCal Open title, but were no match for SoCal power Torrey Pines a few nights later.
