As we begin to look over the 93 years of Vikings History, more space is needed than can be presented here. So an overview is in order. The Vikings Soccer Club began in the Fall of 1922. At that time, the club consisted of only senior players. They were charter members of all the state and local soccer organizations (California Soccer Association North, San Francisco Soccer Football League (senior group) and the California Youth Soccer Association.

The Vikings have always been on the leading edge of soccer innovation in America.

The Vikings were the first to develop a youth program in 1939 under the leadership of the late Derk Zylker, Sr. Unfortunately, World War II intruded and the program did not get under way again until 1952. One of the main figures in the rebirth of youth soccer in SF was the late Marty Krumm who had played on the USA Olympic Soccer team in 1952.
