SPSV Head Varsity Girls Coach Nadine Walker, her assistant coaches coaches and alumni players provide a camp that is designed to work with players at their individual skill levels of beginner through intermediate. Campers participate in offensive and defensive drills and station work, followed by team games.
Intro to Basketball Camp (co-ed) K-5th graders is designed as a great introduction to basketball for boys and girls. The focus is on FUN and fundamentals. Campers work with smaller basketballs and lowered rims which help ensure proper form. Campers participate in offensive and defensive drills and station work, followed by team games.
Girls High School Basketball Camp 9th-12th grade: Co-ed 3rd-5th grade and Co-ed Offensive Skills Camp 6th-8th grade are designed to strengthen a player’s offensive skill set. Drills are focused on the development of ball handling (dribbling and passing), shooting and individual scoring moves. Campers are coached by the SPSV basketball coaches and alumni players.
Nadine is currently in her eighth year as the head girls’ basketball coach at her alma mater St. Patrick – St. Vincent High School in Vallejo, CA with an overall coaching record of 122-100. Nadine is also currently coaching with the
Read BioNadine is currently in her eighth year as the head girls’ basketball coach at her alma mater St. Patrick – St. Vincent High School in Vallejo, CA with an overall coaching record of 122-100. Nadine is also currently coaching with the Cal Stars AAU program and has worked with the youth and high school teams. Previous coaching experience includes three years as an assistant for the SPSV boys’ varsity basketball program, four years as an assistant for the Solano College’s Women’s basketball team and over 30 years of summer camp coaching.
Nadine played four years on the varsity team at SPSV, made various all-tournament teams, voted on the All-City team her junior year and her senior year helped her team to a league championship in 1992. After high school, she played two years at Solano Community College, again made various all-tournament teams and earned partial scholarship offers to Cal State Fullerton, Southern Colorado and Fresno State. However, due to an ACL injury, she did not continue playing.
Coaching various levels of basketball from city leagues, middle school, high school, summer camps and AAU became the outlet for her passion for the game. She has worked with players and coaches from all levels. Coaches that she feels have really influenced her are Kim Gervasoni (former head coach University Nevada, Reno), Louis Reynaud (current assistant at University California Santa Barbara Men’s Basketball team), Steve Lavin (former head coach at St. John’s University and UCLA Men’s Basketball teams) and the late Cap Lavin (founder of Lavin Basketball Camps and USF Hall of Famer).
She earned her Liberal Arts degree from Solano Community College, Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology and Minored in Education at University of California, Davis, and Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from University of New England. Nadine has been teaching at St. Patrick – St. Vincent HS since 1998 and is the Physical Education department chair, New Teacher Program Coordinator, Foodie Club and Badminton Club moderator. She has also coached volleyball, swimming and is also currently an assistant for the girls’ golf team.
Nadine lives in Vallejo with her husband Derek Walker (head coach of the SPSV boys’ varsity basketball team) and their two children Olivia and Deuce.
