El Cerrito Rec Jr Lifeguard Camp!*
El Cerrito Rec Jr Lifeguard Camp Junior Lifeguard Camp prepares potential lifeguards to meet
the prerequisites of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. The camp is divided into four one-week sessions with a new topic each week. Campers who successfully complete all four weeks of camp and are 13-14 years old may apply to volunteer alongside our lifeguards and swim instructors for the remainder of the summer season.
All volunteers are required to possess current certification in first aid and CPR. Prerequisites: Must be comfortable in deep water, able to swim 200 yards nonstop of coordinated front crawl and breast stroke, and tread water for 2 minutes.
Weeks 2, 3, 5 & 6 (AM), Entering Grades 6-9
Week 2: 6/17-6/21: Basic Water Rescue: Watch the Water
Week 3: 6/24-6/28: CPR & AED: Shock’em
Week 5: 7/8-7/12: First Aid: Bumps & Bruises
Week 6: 7/15-7/26 Stroke School: Stroke Improvement &
Intro to Aiding Swim Lessons
