The Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) revealed tryouts for its upcoming new season of Boys Power League will take place on August 8.
While male volleyball players of all ages have to wait another month before tryouts, the Girls Power League (15U to 18U) has first serve, with tryouts happening on July 25. Tryouts for girls 11U to 14U begin on October 10.
Boys looking to attend tryouts for NCVA’s new season are encouraged to continue to practice their skills leading up to August 8. Athletes can check out the NCVA at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk on July 5 for a tournament to refresh skills.
It’s also suggested that players attend multiple tryouts. Returning players may verbally commit after July 11, and no club may have a written commitment from a player before Wednesday, August 13.
Athletes should not accept a verbal offer if they have no intentions to return to that specific club. Verbal agreements are binding, so avoid making false promises despite verbal commitments not binding.
Instead, don’t allow recruiters to pressure you into a competition, knowing that all players have until to signing date (August 13) to make a decision. Make sure to get everything in writing.
It’s recommended to do research before tryouts.
The Boys Power League begins in September and ends in December 2025. The fall season starts with Qualifier @theGrounds in Roseville on September 13 and 14. Matches continue on September 27 and 28 based on age groups in the Bay Area. Capital Sports Center then hosts October 11, followed by another Bay Area location that is to be announced for the weekend of October 11 and 12.
Region Champions is back @theGrounds the weekend of November 15.
The NCVA hosts its Power League in popular convention centers in the region. The association just announced Mark Patenaude on board to help guide it through the ever-changing youth sports landscape. Patenaude has experience as a volleyball club director, coach, and official, making a strong addition to NCVA.
“I am honored to join the executive leadership team at NCVA, an organization with which I have had the privilege of being involved since 1988,” he said. “I am especially enthusiastic about contributing my experience as a Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Founder of two successful startups, as well as my executive leadership background in tech. The NCVA plays a transformative role in the lives of countless individuals throughout their volleyball journey, and I am proud to now support its mission in a full-time capacity.”
Players can anticipate great things to come to the NCVA for its upcoming season.
