Francis Parker defeats Westview to win first CIF-San Diego Section Open Division girls basketball title

Brieana Brown and Jordan Brown both scored 25 points apiece and Gigi Ong added eight points for top-seeded Francis Parker in a 66-50 girls basketball victory against No. 6 Westview in the CIF-San Diego Section Open Division championship Feb. 28 at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside.

The Lancers captured their first Open Division title in any sport in school history, rebounding from a 60-51 loss to Mission Hills in last year’s section final.

Sarah Heyn produced a team-high 23 points and Mia Jacobson contributed 13 points for Westview, which reached its first Open Division final in program history.

Francis Parker rallied from a 35-28 deficit early in the second half and scored the final 14 points of the third quarter to grab the momentum on its way to a second section crown in three seasons, along with a Division 2 title in 2024.
