Garces Memorial gets past Buchanan to earn CIF-Central Section Division 1 girls soccer championship

Camila Jimenez scored both goals for No. 3 Garces Memorial in a 2-1 girls soccer victory Feb. 26 at top-seeded Buchanan in the championship match of the CIF-Central Section Division 1 playoffs in Clovis.
Ainsley Araujo assisted on the winning goal, with Isabella Arias-Lasalde recording eight saves for Garces Memorial, which extended its unbeaten streak to 14 in a row.
Freshman Macie Lomeli scored following an assist from Makenna Stott for Buchanan, which had its 24-match unbeaten streak snapped.
Buchanan was seeking its first Division 1 crown since 2022 and was pursuing a 13th section championship since 1996.
