Following a season that culminated with Mira Costa High being recognized as the top-ranked high school boys volleyball team in the country, highlighted by winning the inaugural CIF Division 1 state championship May 31 in Fresno, the Mustangs were rewarded Thursday with four student-athletes earning All-America honors by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, including national player of the year Grayson Bradford.

The AVCA honored 28 student-athletes as part of the 18th edition of its prep boys volleyball All-America selections, with 10 representing California high schools, as Bradford led the quartet from Mira Costa.

Bradford, a 6-foot-11 right-side hitter and UCLA signee, and USC-bound setter Andrew Chapin were the two Mustangs chosen among 10 competitors selected All-America first-team honorees.

Bradford, a transfer from Crespi High, had 253 kills, 73 blocks and 15 aces, in addition to a .414 hitting percentage.

Also joining the Mira Costa standouts on the first team were middle blocker Roman Payne from Carlsbad High, a Hawaii commit, in addition to UCLA-bound libero Brogan Glenn of Corona del Mar and UC San Diego signee Lathan Fry from Granite Hills High.

Alex Heins, a New Jersey Institute of Technology-bound middle blocker, as well as outside hitter and Hawaii signee Thatcher Fahlbusch were the Mira Costa athletes selected among 10 competitors on the second team.

Blake Fahlbusch, a junior and USC commit from Loyola High, was also recognized on the second team, in addition to Harvard-bound setter Kai Gan of Huntington Beach, which lost to Mira Costa in both the CIF-Southern Section Open Division championship match and the Southern California Regional Division 1 final.

Chapin and Gan were the only two California setters to be recognized as All-Americans.

Jordan Vidovic of second-ranked Marist High in Illinois (40-2), one of two programs to defeat Mira Costa this season, was selected AVCA National Coach of the Year.
